The Original Gang

Delinquente is an Australian wine company producing small batch, minimal intervention wines from Southern Italian grape varieties. While South Australia is known as one of the great wine capitals of the world, Delinquente hail from the banks of the Riverland, a region considered inferior within the state. Italian for ‘delinquent’, their ethos is to buck the trend, break rules and do things their own way.

Contemporary winemaker and local to the region, Greg Grigoriou has championed the potential of this land and these grapes. After 10 years, Delinquente has established a reputation as an internationally respected wine company known for its quality and innovation.

Delinquente called on us to develop their labels when they first launched back in 2013. Joyride listened to the stories of this too-often ignored region, and was inspired to tell the tale of the underdog.

We developed a range of characters to represent each variety of wine. Characters with a grit in their eye and a tale of tenacity. The unforgettable faces of the Delinquente gang stare you down from the bottle shop shelf. After being overlooked for too long these grapes are now impossible to ignore.

Our unruly gang tell their unique backstory through the tattoos that adorn their body. The detailed imagery speak of who they are and what they fight for. Rebels, migrants, freedom fighters, vigilantes, outcasts and miscreants. They are a line up of badass folks from the walks of life that are often silenced, underrepresented or oppressed. Fiercely speaking up against bigotry and prejudice, together they sew a larger story of independence, resistance and justice.
